‘Welcome to the real world’, I’m sure you have heard that over and over ever since you finished college. School to is a real world, but there we are used to being spoon-fed and everything seems to come easy, but that in most cases ends with college. Once you graduate now you need to look for opportunities. Here are some tips you can employ to help you land a job when you are fresh from college.

  1. Take A Break First

This is not necessary but it I worth, after college it is good that you take a break. I highly recommend this especially if you have the time and resources. Take some time to rest, something you could never do with all the projects you had to attend to in school. If you can, travel to different places and make new friends, you might need them when the job-seeking window opens. Read some good books on career building and put your short term and long-term goals together.

  1. Use Online Resources

The internet has made the world very accessible. Most companies use digital platforms like to seek talents that are fit for hiring. Build an online profile on such hiring websites like www.jobtopgun.com, Kalibrr and LinkedIn. Most things are online but beware there are also scammers online. Be careful to see the red flags and don’t just click on every posting. If a job is too good to be true or it asks you to pay to get in, get out.

  1. Make your resume as appealing as you can

Your resume is what the employers meet first so you need to attract the employers’ attention with it. Know what a job requires and tailor your experiences and skills to match its requirements. As a fresh graduate, you can use your internship experience, co-curricular activities and skills you can pull. Research about the company you want to apply to, then make your CV show you have what they are looking.
