Cables – Tips and Tricks for Your Electrical Wires

Something you don’t necessarily think about when installing cables, is how they may look. There are simple things you can do to make sure your electrical cables are tucked away out of plain sight, especially if you are working on a project at home where little children may be prone to injuries.

Figure 8 cables : First and foremost, this one applies to more than just electrical cables. To manage your cables, labelling is a great way to keep everything neat. As many of your cables will be the same colour, labelling them is a good way to make sure you know which cable serves for a specific purpose. If you are an electrician, or fixing cables in a common electrical box, this is a great way for anyone to be able to know the cables without having a tradie there.

Tie: This one may be a little obvious, but we thought we’d put it out there. Tying your electrical cables and cable clips will ensure that nobody trips over the cables. You can use a zip tie to keep your cords nice and neat. Velcro zip ties are also handy if you move cords from one place to another. By tying up your electrical cables, your space will look bigger and the cables will be easy to handle.

Hide: It’s important that electrical cables look tidy and are hidden for safety reasons. If you have loose cables, you can store them in shoeboxes or storage boxes. However, if you have electrical, sdi or tps cables that are wired, you can purchase cable clips and cable baskets to bundle and hide them. This will ensure that there are no safety or tripping hazards.

Clip: If you’re someone who likes to unplug a wire and leave it on your desk or work space or you regularly disconnect your monitor or your iPhone charger in hopes the cable doesn’t fall behind your desk, this one is for you. What you can do is purchase a cable clip or binder and run your cables through this nifty little device. That way, getting your cables not to fall behind your desk won’t be such a daunting task.

Wireless: As we have undoubtedly shifted into the technological age, we see products becoming better over time. These days, most electronic devices are wireless and optimised for use without having to run long, inconvenient cables along the skirting of a room. Although this tip can’t be used physically, if cables are something that bother you, you can consider going wireless.

If you are in need of any specific electric cables, or electrical cable accessories, you have come to the right place. We stock all types of wires including rugged single and multi-conductor electrical wires and cables. Whether you need electrical cables, connectors, cable clips, SDI and tpi cables or high-temperature electrical wire, we have our inventory stocked to ensure we are your one-stop electrical shop.

No matter what type of cable you’re looking to install, always make sure to consider both the application and environment that the cable will be used in before installation.
